2nd WNV positive mosquito sample identified on September 6, 2018

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) announced today that West Nile virus (WNV) has been detected in mosquitoes collected from Easton, Massachusetts.  In 2018, 4,553 mosquito samples were tested for WNV and 471 samples in the state were positive. The Town of Easton had a second WNV positive mosquito sample identified on September 6, 2018. Please note that the risk level has been raised across the state to “Moderate.” Please review the attached press release on ways to stay safe from mosquito-borne illness.
